The Biggest Loser weekly update: week 3
Our Naas Biggest Loser group is continuing the great work from last weeks super weight loss of 32kg. The total weight loss for week three was 21kg. Well done to everyone involved. The total weight loss so far has been 102.5kg for 3 weeks, which is an amazing achievement.
It is very important at this point to maintain momentum to achieve your weight loss goals. It can be very easy to slack off after the first few weeks having seen some weight loss. The main goal now is to continue to exercise and stick to your food plan to ensure that you can enjoy the benefits of sustained weight loss.
Here are some quick healthy tips that will help you keep the weight that you loose off.
- Try to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily. Vary the fruit that you eat. For example don’t eat all citrus fruit as this will increase the acid pH of your diet. Try to find a balance by eating a banana, an apple, an orange etc. as well as your favorite veg
- Aim to drink 2 liters of water daily. Keep a bottle by your desk, or fill up a bottle in the evening and put it in the fridge so you have it chilled for the nest day. Click here to see this post on the benefits of drinking water
- Things to avoid – white carbs such as bread, rice, sugars. If you want to switch to brown bread pick a wholgrain bread not just a standard brown loaf. Avoid saturated fat foods. Check the label on the product and where is gives the amount of fat, it will list the amount of saturated fat next
- Avoid alcohol as it is a source of both calories and carbs. Click here to see a breakdown of calories per drink type
- If you are a tea or coffee drinker, switch to a herbal tea and sweeten your drink with a natural sugar such as a slice of lemon.
- Most importantly: exercise, exercise, exercise! This is by far the best way to achieve weight loss goals. Regular exercise will also boost your natural energy levels. This coupled with smart, sensible eating you will be fighting fit in no time
